Is it worth your while to run for local office?

Would the entrenched bureaucracy prevent you from making any kind of meaningful change? Would they attack you with lawfare and the like?

Maybe it makes more sense to form an intentional community, and eventually a parallel socity?

Maybe you could do both? An intentional community, of sufficient size, might be able to swing the vote.

According to this podcaster:

“Running for local office isn’t just for career politicians—it’s for anyone who wants to shape their community, elevate their influence, and move the Overton window toward a better future. This video breaks down why stepping up matters, drawing from real experience on boards and commissions, on the campaign trail, and supporting others who’ve taken the leap. If you’ve ever wondered whether you could make a direct impact, build a powerful network, or become a trusted name in your community, this is your roadmap.”

And here is his video explaining why YOU should run for office, how to prepare, the importance of local networks, and how to move the Overton window. Born to Run: A Far Right Guide to Local Politics

Decentralization: The Best Hope for Humanity?

Maybe the type of government is less important than the size of the government, and those governed?

Could it be that nation-states are too big, and that decentralization – not voting different politicians into power – is the cure to many of the social and political problems that ail us.

The Philosophy of VanLife

The minimalism, the nature, the challenge.
The people, the transience, and the peace.
The gratitude, the creativity, the solitude.
The little things, the self-exploration, and the freedom.
The presence.
Here is what I have learned, having lived in my van for a couple years.
This is the philosophy of VanLife.

Black Families Buy 97 Acres As City For "PEOPLE Of COLOR", But It Didn't Go Well

According to Wikipedia:

Freedom is a settlement in the U.S. state of Georgia established in September 2020, in the wake of a breakdown of race relations after the killing of several African Americans, including the murder of Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia. It was created by 19 African-American families who together purchased 96.71 acres (39.14 hectares) of land in Wilkinson County, near Macon, with the goal of incorporating a city that is a “safe haven for people of color”

As of July 2023, the settlement consists of a dilapidated campground, and its founders are working on establishing roads and utility services before beginning building residences. Currently, the settlement consists of more than 500 acres (200 hectares) throughout two parcels. As of May 2024, construction for permanent dwellings or vital infrastructure has not begun. As of June 2025 no updates have been given to the future of the project, with their X account being de-activated and no further updates from any social media platform.
