Why we can't vote our way out

• Major elections seem to be a choice between evils
• Unlikely that politicians will keep their promises, even if they want to do so
• Politics attracts the most narcissistic and power hungry
• The masses will vote for those who make grandiose promises, instead of those who campaign on hard truths
• Politicians often manipulate the masses by scapegoating. By smearing, and preaching hatred towards their opponents.
• Even if a worthwhile individual were elected, that individual would subject to the corrupting influences of political life, and would have to fight against the bureaucratic establishments
• To even afford an election campaign, an individual would have accept corporate donation, and would owe those corporations something in return
• It is doubtful that modern elections are even honest
