**Why we can't vote our way out**
  * Major elections seem to be a choice between evils
  * Unlikely that politicians will keep their promises, even if they want to do so
  * Politics attracts the most narcissistic and power hungry
  * The masses will vote for those who make grandiose promises, instead of those who campaign on hard truths
  * Politicians often manipulate the masses by scapegoating. By smearing, and preaching hatred towards their opponents. 
  * Even if a worthwhile individual were elected, that individual would subject to the corrupting influences of political life, and would have to fight against the bureaucratic establishments
  * To even afford an election campaign, an individual would have accept corporate donation, and would owe those corporations something in return
  * It is doubtful that modern elections are even honest
